For Hirfan, founder of Aliwal Chess Club, chess is more than a game — it’s a way to bring people together. Built on the spirit of community, his club has always focused on connection before competition.

Through 60 Lights, One Future, Hirfan continues his tradition of giving back through Castle for a Cause — an open chess event where players from all walks of life gather not only to play, but to contribute.

By combining strategy with creativity, Aliwal Chess Club hopes to show that even small passions can create big ripples of change. Each piece moved, each hand extended, and each donation given reflects the belief that kindness, like chess, takes shape one move at a time.

🌱 Story of Hope

Naqib, 8, lives with his mother and older brother, who faces developmental challenges. Thoughtful and observant, he listens attentively during lessons and is gradually improving his academic strategies and skills. The Young Hearts centre provides him with a supportive space to study, rest, and socialise.

With steady encouragement, Naqib has become more focused in his studies and confident with peers. He hopes to be a firefighter and continues to grow in self-belief and independence.
